Getting started
How does a consultation work?
What to expect from a telehealth visit, from your first conversation to a plan you understand.
These answers describe how telehealth care generally works. Your provider will confirm anything that applies specifically to you.
Before the visit
You will be asked about your health history, current medicines and supplements, allergies, and what you hope to address. Having this information nearby makes the conversation more focused.
The Preparing for your first telehealth consultation guide in the Resources library includes a simple checklist, and the care checklists offer printable sheets you can bring to any appointment.
During and after the visit
The consultation is a conversation with a licensed provider, not a form that produces a prescription. You can ask questions, share what you are comfortable sharing, and take notes.
Before you finish, confirm what happens next, how you will receive instructions, and how to reach the care team afterward. Your provider will explain any treatment options, their risks, and what follow up would involve before you decide anything.
